TATE Britain I Life between islands Caribbean-British art 1950s – now

posted on: 24 February 2022

This exhibition explores the work of artists from the Caribbean who made their home in Britain, alongside other British artists whose work has been influenced and inspired by Caribbean themes and heritage. It features a selection of images from ‘Autoportrait’ on show in Michael McMillan’s front room with the complete work being available as a limited edition poster for the show.

This exhibition celebrates how people from the Caribbean have forged new communities and identities in post-war Britain – and in doing so have transformed what British culture and society looks like today.
Coinciding with the exhibition is a collaborative work with Grace Wales Bonner reflecting on Language of Flowers and nature as a specially editioned tee-shirt.
