I’m thrilled to share I will be speaking at the (Re)discovering Natural History Symposium at The Linnean Society of London on the 11th of Feb 2025. A symposium with historians, archivists, curators & artists to discuss ways of finding and telling the best stories in special collections.
My contribution to the day will be a talk titled ‘Sloane, Plants, and Resistance’. I will discuss the development of the works in Seeds of Empire and share my plans for the project’s future. The inspiration for Seeds of Empire began with Sloane’s Herbarium at the Natural History Museum in London, which led to an exploration of his book, A Voyage to the Islands Madera, Barbados, Nieves, S. Christophers, and Jamaica.
