Mayflower Primary School is a community state school located in Poplar, East London. the Residency began with documenting the broad range of learning activities in which take place both in and out of the classroom at the school. This gave the children a chance to get to know the artist and staff a chance to think about how they would like to use these specially available skills and knowledge.

At the beginning of the Spring Term Joy worked with pupils and class teachers across the school from nursery to years 5 on a series of short projects dealing with different aspects of the curriculum including mapping, literacy and physics. During the summer term selected children from different year groups will work with her to design and produce a stained glass window. This will be based visual work children across the school have produced as a school over the last year, giving the Year 6 a legacy to leave behind and the remaining children a sense of ownership.
