Black Britain: A Photographic History.

(2007-11-07)

Discussion with Paul Gilroy and Mark Sealy
People of African and Caribbean descent have inhabited Great Britain for centuries. Eminent professor Paul Gilroy, renowned for his work exploring the social and cultural dimensions of British blackness and black Britishness, has assembled a living visual history of blacks in the British Isles. Spanning over two hundred years, this is an unprecedented collection featuring over two hundred and fifty photographs, with an introduction and commentary by Gilroy, and a foreword by scholar Stuart Hall.
